About Us
Maria Tartasi is a Physiotherapist and Osteopath who graduated in Physiotherapy in Italy in 2006 at “La Sapienza University of Rome”, and achieved Master of Science in Osteopathy in 2014 at British School of Osteopathy (now University College of Osteopathy). She has worked in a variety of settings, ranging from rehabilitation clinics, with sport clubs, in private practice and within the NHS.
She developed her interest in body biomechanics and manual therapy while training in athletics for many years at competitive level and continued to be fascinated by body functional movement and manual therapy applied to sports injuries. This culminated in the completion of a Specialist Running Technique Coach Course to further support people to become better runners and reduce their risk of injury. She developed and is leading the Running Clinic in Elephant Park where she performs Running assessments including video running gait analysis and running technique coaching sessions.
Additionally, Maria completed training in Physiotherapy Woman’s Health and, being a mum herself, she experienced the difficulties of pregnancy and post-partum recovery, from which she found motivation to help other mums during this challenging time providing a combination of Osteopathy, physiotherapy, dry needling treatments as well as specific exercises aimed to restore better posture, efficient biomechanical movement patterns and return to running reducing risk of injury after pregnancy. To further support mums that want to keep exercise and run she offers Small group running sessions weekly in the park, in which babies and children are welcome in their running pushchairs.
Maria explores each individual health, posture, movements, balance, proprioception, as well as daily habits. She also considers individuals goals and expectations to develop a tailored treatment plan. She applies a combination of manual therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, dry needling, and tailored exercises aimed to enhance body functional movements to suit each individual needs.
Maria gained her work experience in Italy, UK, and participated in a medical expedition in Kenya
